What should i get involved with

Even though school is officially out, lots of kids will be suffering through summer school or homework assist programs. Do them and yourself a favor and help them out. Call your local school to find out when and how you can get involved. While the idea of attending a community meeting might sound about as entertaining as a dentist appointment, they can actually be really great. The more this happens, the better! Picking up trash might not sound too appealing, but there are hundreds of parks and playgrounds around that could use some TLC.

If you have a place in mind, make sure you reach out to the administrator before you make any changes. Taking on volunteer roles lets you have an opportunity to try out new roles in a safe environment. By offering to photograph an event for your colleagues, you provide a needed service while also testing your own abilities. You can also skip the Big Box grocery stores and shop with locally owned grocers or at farmer markets. Two summers ago I joined a running class hosted by a track runner from one of my states universities, which surprise!

I met like-minded people, learned more about an activity I enjoy, and spent registration money you guessed it locally. My town also has ongoing groups for runners, bikers of the pedaling variety , and other outdoor activities. You might not even be aware of how many sports teams surround you. Think about it. Does your town have a Little League? What about a Minor League? Think about high school and college sports teams can you go support them? Remember: Players play because they love the game, but seeing fans in the stands can make a world of difference.
